Tuesday, June 10, 2008 (Pick-ups in Cross Plains, Middleton and Waunakee) and Wednesday, June 18, 2008 (Pick-ups in Mt. Horeb and Verona): LaCrosse’s Boats and Bluffs

Enjoy the scenery as we make our way to LaCrosse Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 18, 2008!

Our first stop will be a tour and demonstration at Pleasoning Gourmet Seasoning Manufacturing Plant and Outlet Store. This plant features 29 different great tasting seasoning blends. After a brief presentation on the history of the company, we will have the chance to sample any or all of the 29 seasoning blends. Then we will enjoy a unique walk-through tour of the manufacturing area of the plant where we will see the mixing and filling processes. To top it off, we will receive a 10% discount on any purchases made.

Next we will be on our way to downtown LaCrosse. Upon our arrival, we will be welcomed aboard the LaCrosse Queen paddlewheeler for a scenic luncheon cruise on the upper Mississippi River. As the LaCrosse Queen paddles upstream on the main channel of the river, our guide will explain facts and trivia of the historical and present day river, along with local points of interest. We will watch for eagles and other wildlife as we cruise past steep bluffs adjacent to the “Great River Road” designated by AAA as one of the most scenic areas in the Midwest

To complete our LaCrosse tour, a local guide will join us for a sightseeing tour of this “River Town.” Sit back and relax as our guide introduces us to the homes of lumber barons, early entrepreneurs and more! We’ll make a stop atop Granddad Bluff, and will then return home with fond memories of LaCrosse’s boats and bluffs.

Sunday-Thursday, July 13-17, 2008: Ballard’s Lake of the Woods Fishing Tour

“Hook, line and sinker!” Please join your fellow Prime Time Plus members on July 13-17th as we “land the big one” on our 5 day Ballard’s Lake of the Woods Fishing Tour in northern Minnesota.

When it comes to walleye fishing, nothing compares to Lake of the Woods, and no one knows Lake of the Woods like Ballard’s Resort. On Day One, we will arrive at Ballard’s Resort in the afternoon for check in, lodging assignments, a brief orientation and an evening dinner. Lodging will be in modern cabins. Each unit is complete with living room, two single beds per bedroom, bathroom, cable TV, towels and daily maid service.

On Days Two through Four, we will eat breakfast and depart for a full day of charter fishing (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). We will board 27 feet Sportcraft charter fishing boats, which include angling equipment, bait, tackle, on-board restroom facilities and fish processing. The charters accommodate up to six anglers plus your guide. The action on the boats is always fast-paced and fun, whether trolling for deep-water fish or bait-fishing for that trophy catch. Lunch will be included, and it will either consist of a sack lunch or a fresh Lake of the Woods walleye shore lunch.

An evening meal will be held at the Resort each evening. The restaurant and bar feature gourmet favorites and breathtaking views of the beautiful Rainy River.

On Day Five, we will eat breakfast and depart for home. Lunch will be provided on the bus.

Cost: $674 per member, non-members add an additional $25 per person to the rates.

Deposit: $200 per person due upon registration.

Wednesday, August 6, 2008: Mallard’s Baseball Game at Warner Park

“It’s 1-2-3 strikes you’re out at the old ball game!” Join us on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, as we watch Madison’s Minor League baseball team, the Madison Mallards, take on the competition at Warner Park.

We will depart for the Warner Park Duck Pond and take part in a 90 minute Tail Gate Party, which includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, cole slaw, potato salad, chips, soda and beer.

Then it will be on to the “old ball game.” The Madison Mallards are fast becoming one of Dane County’s favorite traditions. We will enjoy this American pastime in box seating, which is the perfect place for great views of the game.

Cost: $40 per member, $50 per non-member

Saturday, September 6, 2008 (Pick-ups in Mt. Horeb and Verona) and Wednesday, September 10, 2008 (Pick-ups in Cross Plains, Middleton and Waunakee): Fall Mississippi Explorer

Travel with us on September 6th or 10th on our Fall Mississippi Explorer adventure!

We will depart for Lansing, Iowa and board the Mississippi Explorer’s special 31-mile cruise between Lansing, Iowa and Prairie de Chien, Wisconsin. The Mississippi River, rich in history, is unveiled as your seasoned U.S. Coast Guard-licensed Captain shares yarns of river lore and reflects back to earlier river years with tales of steamboat wrecks, explorers, Native American wars and the massive log rafts that once supplied lumber to a new nation. We will also explore the River’s eco-system and navigation, while viewing such landmarks as “Locking Thru” Lock and Dam #9 in Lynxville, Wisconsin. Eagle watching will be a highlight alongside the remote scenic bluffs of Effigy Mounds National Monument.

Come and discover the beautiful scenery and grandiose eco-system that encompasses the Mississippi River. Magnificent scenery, abundant wildlife, waterfowl and bald eagles welcome you around every bend.

Sunday-Monday, September 21-29, 2008 and Sunday-Monday, October 19-27, 2008: California Coast

Take a trip to the California Coast with us in 2008! Mark your calendars for either September 21-29 or October 19-27, 2008 as we head west to experience fun in the sun.

Your tour begins in “the City by the Bay,” San Francisco. Enjoy the ambiance of this lively city, known for its ethnic diversity and unique history. A local guide will showcase the popular landmarks of San Francisco, including the Twin Peaks, the Golden Gate Bridge and Chinatown. Later, enjoy some leisure time to explore Fisherman’s Wharf where you can sample cracked crab and the renowned sourdough French bread. Shop in lively Union Square or visit Ghirardelli Square, once the site of one of the largest producers of chocolate in the country. For a true local experience, ride the famed cable cars up and down San Francisco’s thrilling hills.

On Day Three, we will wind through the majestic Sierra Nevada Mountains en route to one of Mother Nature’s greatest masterpieces, Yosemite National Park. Yosemite’s amazing waterfalls, unique rock formations, deep valleys, Alpine meadows and groves of giant sequoias will leave you awestruck. We will enjoy an open-air tram tour of the park where we will view sites such as Yosemite Falls, Half Dome and El Capitan, as well as learn about the park’s history, geology and wildlife.

On Day Four, we will travel to Monterey, the city often referred to as the greatest meeting of land, sea and sky. Monterey is home to the famed 17 Mile Drive., which is known for being one of the most breathtaking coastlines in the world. Along the drive, you will pass through the Del Monte Forest, Seal Rock and the Pebble Beach Golf Course. Next, we will travel to Old Monterey, which is filled with restored historic buildings and Spanish adobes.

On Day Five, we will journey 90 miles along the Big Sur Coast for a trip that will surely take your breath away. Upon arrival in San Simeon, you will visit one of the world’s greatest showplaces, the mountaintop retreat of Hearst Castle, built by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. We will explore some of the 165 rooms and 127 acres of gardens, terraces, pools and walkways. Later, we will arrive at the quaint Danish village of Solvang, in Santa Barbara County, known for its old-world architecture and flower-lined streets.

On Day Six, we will depart for Santa Barbara, famous for its natural beauty. Some free time allows you to explore the downtown area laced with pedestrian-friendly sidewalks with the Santa Ynez Mountains as a lovely backdrop.

On Day Seven, we will continue on our coastal journey to glittering Los Angeles, the “City of Angels,” and home to Universal Studios, as well as a host of your favorite musical and film celebrities. During our tour of LA, we will visit Graumann’s Chinese Theatre, where nearly 200 movie stars have left their hand and foot prints, and see the popular Hollywood Walk of Fame. Tonight, arrive in California’s second largest city, San Diego, known for its ideal climate.

On Day Eight, we will join a local guide for a comprehensive tour of San Diego including downtown, the Gaslamp Quarter, Balboa Park, Coronado Island and Old Town San Diego. The afternoon is yours to experience San Diego at your leisure. You may wish to take in the Maritime Museum or the celebrated San Diego Zoo. Tonight, rejoin your fellow travelers for dinner at one of San Diego’s best-known architectural landmarks: Tom Ham’s Lighthouse, built around an actual functioning lighthouse known as Beacon #9.

On Day Nine, we will depart for home with wonderful memories of our time touring California’s Coast.

Cost per member: Triple-$2,609, Double-$2,659, Single-$3,609 / Non-member – add an additional $200 per person to the rates.

Friday-Saturday, November 14-15, 2008: Devil in the White City - Chicago Overnight

Join us as we depart for a fun-filled, two-day adventure to Chicago on November 14-15, 2008!

On Day One, we will arrive in the “Windy City” where we will meet our local guide for a sightseeing tour of the largest Chinatown in the Midwest. We will discover the rich and unique history of Chicago’s Chinatown from the late 19th century to the present. We will go on to experience the “Devil in the White City” tour, which highlights the world described so vividly in Erik Larson’s best-selling book, “The Devil in the White City.” The book has sparked a renewed interest in the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893, and this exclusive tour is the best way to showcase what happened at the Fair and its impact on Chicago both past and present. During the tour, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at the first Chinese restaurant in Chicago. This restaurant was opened during the Fair and was a great success.

Next, we will make a stop at Millennium Park in downtown Chicago for a short walking tour. The 24.5 acre park is an unprecedented center for world-class art, music, architecture and landscape design. Among the park’s prominent features is the dazzling Jay Pritzker Pavilion, the most sophisticated outdoor concert venue of its kind in the United States. The Pavilion was designed by Frank Gehry, one of the world’s greatest living architects.

That evening, we will head to the Drury Lane Theatre for dinner and a musical production of “Mame.” “Mame” is based on the 1955 novel “Auntie Mame” by Patrick Dennis. Set in New York and spanning the Great Depression and World War II, it focuses on eccentric bohemian, Mame Dennis. Her fabulous life with her wealthy friends is interrupted when the son of her late brother arrives to live with her. They cope with the Depression in a series of adventures.

On Day Two, we will enjoy breakfast at our hotel, and then meet our local guide for a morning tour of Chicago featuring Chicago’s Outdoor Art and Sculpture, a stop at the Art Institute of Chicago and a final tour of Chicago’s Little Italy. Chicago’s near-west side was and is the city’s most famous Italian enclave, earning it the title of Little Italy. Italian immigrants came to Chicago as early as the 1850s, before the massive waves of immigration from 1874 to 1920. We will enjoy lunch in the neighborhood before departing for home.

Saturday, December 13, 2008 (Pick-ups in Cross Plains, Middleton and Waunakee) and Sunday, December 14, 2008 (Pick-ups in Mt. Horeb and Verona): Memories Dinner Theater – Port Washington, WI

Join the Prime Time Plus Club as we board a motor coach and head to Port Washington, Wisconsin for a Christmas Show at Memories Dinner Theater.

First, we will have time to explore the Cedar Creek Settlement where you’ll find a charming historical village of shops nestled in a restored circa 1864 woolen mill. Begin the day with a stroll through the specialty gifts, a black smith shop, a pottery shop, art galleries and antique shops.

Next, we will be on to the Memories Dinner Theater. A buffet-style lunch will be served prior to the start of “The Christmas Schooner” performance. This critically acclaimed musical holiday treat tells the story of a Michigan shipping captain who braves the deadly winter weather to bring Christmas trees to homesick German-American families in turn-of-the-century Chicago. It’s sure to delight!
